CT, NJ…when are you going to step up, NY?

Today, Connecticut’s supreme court overturned a ban on same sex marriages. Pretty exciting!

So, the gays can get married in Connecticut…they can get civilly unioned in New Jersey. When is New York going to recognize the unions as well? (and yes, NYC does – but that has nothing to do with the state’s laws). Still, it’s a step.

On the downside, this is happening pretty close to the election. The gay marriage issue was used as a scare tactic in 2004. Will it be the GOP’s October Surprise in 2008?
