The Biden/Palin Debate

2 October, 2008 at 12:21 pm (2008 Election, Politics)

So…tonight’s the night.

The past few weeks, through the very few interviews that have happened during that time, Palin has shown herself to be good at sticking to talking points…and not much else. So the question is: is this for real? Has she been making herself look unaware so that she’ll be able to come in tonight and blow everyone, with their lowered expectations, out of the water? Or, is she in fact just not knowledgeable of complex national and international issues?

I’m not saying she’s dumb; she is a governor, after all. And from what I’ve read, her showing at those gubernatorial debates was good. She’s very informed – of what directly concerns Alaska. It’s the larger, national issues where she lacks.

Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see what happens tonight. Biden hasn’t had much spotlight lately, so it’ll be good to see him in action. He may be a bit loquacious at times, but he knows his stuff. Frankly, I hope he wipes the floor with her 🙂

Until tonight…entertain yourself with this:

Later, I’ll post about that Ben Folds show Tuesday night (hint: it was fantastic)

Why not question that the moderator, Gwen Ifill, of the upcoming Biden-Palin debate is pro-Obama. She wrote a book that praises Obama, obviously she will try her best to make Palin look bad in the debate Why couldn’t the moderator be more fair and bi-partisan?

Why not make fun of Joe Biden, who thinks FDR was President in 1929, and thinks paying more taxes is patriotic?

    Hello!

Well, I have no idea who you are – and you must not know who I am, either, or you wouldn’t ask why I’m posting anti-Palin…

    A) Every person – EVERY person – has a political slant, one way or the other. This includes Gwen Ifill. Yes, she is writing a book that talks about how Obama has influenced politics. However, I have no doubt that she will be a fair, honest moderator. Though I suppose we’ll find out tonight.

    B) I have absolutely no problem paying more taxes, if that’s what it takes to make this country a better place – and I agree, that is patriotic. As for thinking FDR was president in 1929…that’s the first I’ve heard of that! However, I suppose he misspoke – much like Palin “misspoke” when she said she reads all of the newspapers: http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003859235

Kind of interesting how this article from a conservative newspaper announcing Ifill as moderator, published on Sept 21, 2008, didn’t even mention the book, yet it’s somehow blown up in the press in the last couple of days. Hmm.

Also, nice use of the word “loquacious”. Up until now, I always thought that was a drag queen name. 😉

Yeah, very interesting – it’s probably just a coincidence the ‘story’ would leak on the day of the debate…
